Law Enforcement & Community Engagement

In January 2025, Mackenzie joined the Winston-Salem Police Department, and currently serves as the Senior Community Educator. Here she helps to build safety from within the institution, and serve as a bridge of knowledge and understanding between the Police Department and the community.

In June 2025, after attending the PLECET Conference, Mackenzie was inspired to create the Law Enforcement Community Engagement Exchange Program (LECEEP.)

LECEEP hopes to build connections and community in law enforcement! The Law Enforcement-Community Engagement Exchange Program (LECEEP) is a professional learning initiative that connects law enforcement agencies to share effective strategies, tools, and practices that strengthen community engagement and public trust. Through short-term exchanges, departments can observe, collaborate, and bring home ideas that improve officer-community relationships and enhance departmental transparency and effectiveness.

Please email mcallen@wspd.org to sign up, participate or get ideas on how to intiate your own LECEEP experiences!
